Writing

I have been writing for as long as I can recall – it started with a little journal with a faulty lock and a misty rainbow cover in the 1980s. I’ve been a crime reporter and an education reporter (for the record crime scenes got nothing on school board meetings), I’ve been a magazine editor and a style editor, a blogger and a contributor for the Huffington Post.

‘… like fashion, some writing is timeless and some (like cloud bangs) I am mortified I wrote. But, it’s all a part of what makes up the landscape of my history …’

Much like fashion, some writing is timeless and some (like cloud bangs) I am mortified I wrote. But, it’s all a part of what makes up the landscape of my history at a keyboard over the years.

I’m 39 years old and confident I haven’t really gotten properly started yet. I think stories are important when they’re real and so that’s my commitment to the words on these pages – that they be authentic, and yet, filled with hope. We live in a world that can make it impossible to marry the two. But, God.

I hope the words on these pages inspire you to live with authentic joy even in the hardest of times and give you that push we all need to tell our stories – no matter how quietly you choose to share them or how painfully they may be told.
